Thanks to signing up with Ting as my cellphone provider, I also ended up saving money on my phone bill, too! Stockpiling saves you money because it enables you to buy items at rock bottom prices and stock up on them.

As a result, this saves you from having to pay full price for the item the next time you need it. So while the initial savings is gradual, as you continue to stockpile, the savings grow considerably.

I put aside a block of time each week to scan the store circulars, visit store websites, and make a list of where the best deals are so that I can deal match. Sometimes I visited one store, sometimes I went to five.

Once I made the commitment to purchase items at the lowest possible price, I only had to see what was in my pantry or stockpile in order to make up my menu plan. Believe it or not, I used to write my menu for the week and then buy whatever those meals required.

What an expensive way to eat! Now when I make my menus, I plan them around items that are in my stockpile inventory or on things that I can get a good deal on that week by matching coupons with sales.

Just a note from Lydia: To help you save time and deal shop like Monica and I both do, I highly recommend finding a blog that does coupon match-ups for the store s that you shop at.

You should be able to find a blog that will show you what is on sale at the store you shop plus also show you what coupons you can use to get an even better deal!

This makes deal shopping super easy and much less time consuming. When shopping online or in person, do a quick search for your items to confirm you're getting the best possible price. Feel free to present any finds to the store you're in, as many may be willing to price match rather than lose your business to another vendor.

Have you ever seen something so blissfully inexpensive that you buy it, thinking it must be too good to be true? Sometimes, it is too good to be true, and your ultra-economic purchase becomes a premature addition to the trash bin.

When you're shopping, consider the lifetime of items and opt for quality products that will last within affordable reason, of course. For instance, think of a pair of shoes that wears out quickly. You'll have to replace the economical pair with another set soon, so you may save money in the long run by choosing shoes made with better materials and construction that won't need to be replaced as quickly.

On the other hand, not all that glitters is gold: Quality products don't always come with a steeper price tag. That store brand item with the exact same ingredients on the shelf right next to the name brand item?

They're probably interchangeable. Weigh your options and select the less expensive pick whenever possible to take some weight off your receipt. Secondhand shopping is not only remarkably less expensive, but it's also very on-trend.

In the midst of revelations about the environmental impacts of fast fashion, the sustainability of buying recycled items has made thrifting a fashionable way to embrace frugal shopping.

Ditch the fast fashion and enjoy your economic purchases—all while feeling that internal glow you get from reducing your carbon footprint. Rising prices can make it more tempting to put more everyday purchases on your credit cards, but that strategy can cause issues in the long run.

Your credit cards can earn you rewards for your shopping, but once the annual percentage rate APR kicks in if you don't pay off the balance quickly, you end up paying a bigger price for your purchases.

So, be careful to only spend what you can pay immediately. Additionally, keep in mind that your credit utilization rate is a major component of your credit score; by paying off your spending as you shop, you can maintain a lower utilization—and, thus, potentially a higher credit score.

Your good credit score can help you save money if you do need to borrow to get through challenging financial periods.

You can check your credit score for free through Experian to see where you stand. Save money by reducing your utility and telecom bills, and cancel subscriptions you don't need. Banking services provided by CFSB, Member FDIC. Experian is a Program Manager, not a bank.

Years ago I had one grocery goal… spend as little as possible. Today, my goal is to save time and save on groceries while feeding a houseful of kids, their families, and friends. I was slow to get on the Subscribe and Save bandwagon. Many of the items on Amazon are more expensive compared to using a coupon matched with a sale.

This led to more than a few late night trips to Walgreens because we were out of toilet paper or dish soap. We ended up paying full price for these items because we needed them immediately.

One day I sat down with the kids and made a list of everything we purchased at least once a month. Grocery items like paper towels, toilet paper, laundry detergent, dishwasher detergent, hand soap, batteries, toothbrushes, dental floss, etc.

Then I looked for the best deals on Subscribe and Save for these items and added them to my cart. Some items we have shipped once a month and other items are shipped every two to three months. Anyone else have a love hate relationship with shopping at Costco? I love the savings, but I hate the crowds.

It never fails that I show up at pm on a payday and spend as much time looking for parking as I do shopping. Only rarely do I succumb to those mouth-watering muffins or fresh salmon.

Once a month I brave the crowds and go to Costco to stock up on these staples. I purchase all my meat and stock up on as much produce as I can. I also purchase cheese, eggs, butter, frozen fruit and a few other items. Aside from the fresh produce, if I carefully plan my trip, I only need to go to Costco once a month.

Sometimes I can stretch it to every six weeks. After Costco, I make a once a month trip to Publix. This trip is coordinated with sales and I stock up on dry goods like pasta, sauces, soups, beans, and rice. I also stagger this trip with my Costco trip to replenish fresh produce and dairy.

my kids drink a ton of milk. Between my trip to Publix and Costco my kitchen is fairly well stocked, but with a big family we do run out of perishables and and other items before the next grocery trip. When I first learned about Instacart I was skeptical. I honestly wondered how anyone could be too busy to go to the grocery store.

However, with all my kids in a variety of extra curricular activities and none of them drive I was going to the grocery store almost every day and our grocery budget was out of control. My neighbor told me she used it and thought it was worth the money, so I found a promo code and signed up for a free trial of their express service.

Now, each week I have groceries delivered via Instacart. The app displays the items I purchase regularly. I add those plus a few additional items. I schedule a delivery time and my groceries are delivered to my front door.

Years ago I would have told you that Instacart was a luxury and a total waste of money. Because my list is already in Instacart, I only buy what we need. For instance, think of a pair of shoes that wears out quickly. You'll have to replace the economical pair with another set soon, so you may save money in the long run by choosing shoes made with better materials and construction that won't need to be replaced as quickly.
